CLARIFICATION

The larger floc particles or solids that form are removed in a process called “clarification.” Numerous techniques can be used to clarify water before filtration.

Our treatment process uses upflow clarifier technology which acts as a large particle filter, catching most of the larger particles formed as the water flows upward through about five feet of filter material. The material is made of pea-sized plastic beads which vary in size and shape. A small amount of a sticky polymer chemical is added to enhance removal of the floc formed in the material.

With removal of the larger particles, the clarity of the treated water is greatly improved.
